Welcome to my website. I am a writer and artist.  Here I can share my fiction stories and my art with you.

I was raised on the fringe of suburban Melbourne.  Part of the busy urban world but with nature just a hop, skip and jump away, and I've continued to pivot between the two through my life. After completing high school, I was accepted into a professional writing course at university, but as I had an aversion to prudence at the time, never went.  Instead, I chose to wander a less conventional path and travelled widely for many years.  I've worked in the cities and the mountains, from orchards to offices. I loved books from the very beginning, and when I was young, they were the place I often took refuge in from a confusing world.  I dreamed of being a writer myself.  In my mid 30’s I took the plunge and set about writing my first novel length story.  After completing this, I discovered the joy of short story writing (usually it's the other way around).  Not content with just one form of artistic expression, I also fell in love with needle-felting (I'll tell you more about that later). Today, I find myself living on the Mornington Peninsula, overlooking the bay, with my husband, two precious daughters and a floppy eared dog called Maggie.  I earn my bread and butter by much more prosaic means than writing fiction or needle-felting (unfortunately).

The art of story. When words are put together in the right way, they are a form of magic; that magical alignment of words is what I aspire to.  

I read a variety of genres: fantasy, magical realism, general, and literary fiction, and this is reflected in my writing.  'Waking from Dreams" - is a novel length, 86k word story in the magical realism genre. It was the first piece of fiction I wrote.

I am currently working on another next novel length story.

At this point in time my writing resume is short, but my life experience is full - that is what I draw on for my writing - the life that I lived before I found the belief in myself to be the writer I have always dreamed of.

Other forms of dreaming. I've always been a painter and a drawer, but in 2021 after accidentally coming across pictures of needle-felted sculptures on Pinterest I was immediately fascinated by this tidy medium with which to sculpt - I could literally do it on the living room couch and stop and start in an instant (very handy in a busy family home).
